Jonathan Stewart, Thomas Davis practice today

The Carolina Panthers did not have either Jonathan Stewart or Thomas Davis in last week’s loss to the Baltimore Ravens, as Stewart was never expected to play despite somehow getting an ill-advised practice session in on the Friday before the game. Stewart obviously didn’t look good at all, but it qualified as a positive sign when predicting his availability for Week 5. Meanwhile, Davis was initially expected to play, but the game-time decision was deemed inactive after being listed questionable on the injury report with hip and hamstring injuries.

  • According to the Panthers official Twitter account, both Stewart and Davis practiced today in full pads, and this is definitely positive news for Panthers fans. Davis is one of the team’s most important players and one of the best linebackers in the game, while the Panthers desperately need Stewart back after DeAngelo Williams went down with another injury this past week.

This week the Panthers will take on the Chicago Bears in what could end up being a high-scoring affair, so it’s important for the Panthers to have a running game to lean on. Stewart has been making quicker than expected progress on what could have been a severe knee injury, but the Panthers are probably pushing him harder because of the other injuries in the backfield.
