Eric Decker, Calvin Johnson Injury Updates

New York Jets star wide receiver Eric Decker is one of the most important players on the team’s offense, so they have to hope that he can finally get healthy after going down with a hamstring injury in the team’s Week 2 loss to the Green Bay Packers. Decker’s injury started a huge slide in play from Geno Smith and the Jets, and I don’t think for one minute that this is a coincidence.

The New York Daily News’s Manish Mehta reports that Decker will be a “true” game time-decision for the second time in the past three games, and while he is tentatively expected to play, this one could easily go either way (as evidenced by the “true”). Decker, who aggravated his hamstring injury in Week 3, recorded four receptions for 48 yards and a touchdown last week against the Detroit Lions despite being hobbled; imagine what he can do when he’s fully healthy. Unfortunately, it’s quite clear that Decker isn’t healthy, and I honestly hope the Jets sit him and think about his health over the course of the season. Since he was downgraded to a “did not practice” on Thursday, it looks like he suffered yet another aggravation.

Detroit Lions star wide receiver Calvin Johnson was a game-time decision last week after being listed questionable on the injury report, and his ankle injury seemed worse than we initially thought (to be fair, most of us thought it wasn’t an issue), as he was merely used as a decoy. He’s expected to play today against the Buffalo Bills, and while there are no guarantees, Lions ace official site beat writer Tim Twentyman expects Megatron to suit up as we head into pre-game warm-ups.
