Knowshon Moreno expected to get 8-10 carries

Miami Dolphins veteran running back Knowshon Moreno will make his return from a dislocated elbow today after missing four weeks, which was the lower part of his initial timetable, with the injury. Moreno was only listed as probable on the injury report, so he’s always been seen as a lock to play this week. That said, the big question that remains is a question that will likely carry over into subsequent weeks: How many carries will he get? Such is the “good” problem when you have a talented duo of running backs, with Lamar Miller being the league’s most efficient back thus far.

  • The Miami Herald’s Armando Salguero was asked by fantasy owner if he should start Moreno in his league, and Salguero responded that Moreno is expected to receive around 8-10 carries today against the Green Bay Packers. Miller’s carries depend on how many rushes the Dolphins tally up, but it’s clear that this team is better off running the ball today. Not only do they have a talented RB duo, but the Packers are clearly worse at defending the run than they are at defending the pass.

Moreno could have more or less than 8-10 carries, but this is a nice range to keep in mind as we head into today’s game. Before the injury, he blew up the New England Patriots for over 100 yards in Week 1 and was averaging 5.5 yards per carry overall. In a larger sample size (more likely to have rushing average closer to “mean”, which is usually close to the league mean of 4.2), Miller has 5.7 yards per carry, so that’s worth noting.
