Greg Olsen, Eric Decker Injury Updates: Pass-catchers active

New York Jets star wide receiver Eric Decker went down with a hamstring injury in the third quarter of the team’s Week 2 loss to the Green Bay Packers, and he hasn’t been able to recover since. Decker tried to push the injury too hard in Week 3, and he ended up aggravating it. Although he did play and catch a touchdown pass in Week 4 against the Detroit Lions, Decker was unable to play in last week’s 31-0 drubbing at the hands of the San Diego Chargers.

Decker’s status was in some doubt for today’s game against the Denver Broncos, which is obviously an important one for him given the reunions storyline. After Rex Ryan didn’t show much optimism regarding his status, beat writers went against that stating that they expected him to play. Decker, who was listed questionable on the Jets injury report, is indeed active today, but he most likely isn’t fully healthy; he’s probably only out there because he’s playing against the Broncos. We can only hope Decker plays well and, more importantly, avoids another aggravation, which could really put a dent into his season.

Carolina Panthers star TE Greg Olsen is also listed as questionable on the injury report, but he isn’t a major risk for an aggravation in today’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Like Decker, Olsen is clearly his team’s most important pass-catcher, and he’s a full-go today. Olsen was instrumental in the Panthers comeback win over his former team, the Chicago Bears last week, and looks poised for another solid game today (though the Bengals are considerably better at covering TEs than Chicago).
