Tom Brady injury was ‘no joke’

Whenever New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is listed on the injury report, we generally roll our eyes and say, “Nice one, Bill,” but I guess it’s time to start taking injuries to Brady seriously when he’s listed questionable instead of his customary “probable (shoulder)” designation whenever Bill Belichick feels like playing coy. The Patriots emerged victorious today against the Buffalo Bill, scoring 37 points despite a beat-up offensive line against a team known for their elite defensive line. Tom Brady was at the heart and center of that with a masterful performance, going 27-37 for 361 yards, no picks, four TDs, and a crisp 9.8 yards per attempt.

On Friday, Brady was downgraded to a limited practice and listed questionable with an ankle injury, and every report was obviously re-assuring and positive. But it sounds like it was that way because Brady toughs things out and rarely lets people know what he’s dealing with (remember that swollen hand injury last season that was famously seen in the Miami Dolphins game?).

Per two sources close to CSNNE’s Tom E. Curran, the ankle injury Brady came into this game with was actually “no joke”, contrary to what most of us are conditioned to think, and he needed “significant work and treatment” in order to play today. Thank goodness he’s fine and there were no aggravations, because then the Patriots, if you can imagine, would be even worse for wear (Stevan Ridley and Jerod Mayo are possibly out for the season).
