Reggie Wayne, Trent Richardson undergoing MRIs

Indianapolis Colts running back Trent Richardson enjoyed a strong performance yesterday against a Cincinnati Bengals team that was shutout and looked out-of-sorts defensively, and T-Rich’s 5.5 yards per carry were easily his highest total this year. In fact, his previous high was 4.1 yards per rush against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 3 and Baltimore Ravens in Week 5- 4.1 isn’t even above the league average.

  • Unfortunately, Richardson’s best statistical day on the ground coincided with a hamstring injury in the third quarter, but he looked pretty darn awesome before going down. Richardson’s injury is fully expected to be a minor one, but it still pays to be cautious. That’s probably all this MRI is, but it’s obviously worth keeping a close eye on.

Per Pro Football Talk’s Josh Alper, star wide receiver Reggie Wayne is also headed for an MRI today after suffering an apparent elbow injury, though his ailment is probably even less severe than Richardson’s tweaked hamstring. Wayne struggled against the Bengals with just 15 yards on four receptions, so maybe this has something to do with his 3.8 YPR. Again, it’s worth checking out all updates regarding Wayne’s injury, but neither Wayne nor Richardson are expected to miss any time at this point.

Wayne has 38 receptions for 434 yards so far this season.
