Vincent Jackson Trade Rumors: Patriots, Seahawks Eagles interested

There are several teams out there interested in acquiring Tampa Bay Buccaneers star wide receiver Vincent Jackson, who will be active today against the Minnesota Vikings despite being listed questionable with a rib injury. The Buccaneers, of course, aren’t going to give away their best wide receiver for chump change, and they are going to want a high draft pick in order to be persuaded into parting ways with the big field-stretching WR1.

The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that teams continue to show interest in trading for V-Jax, and there are more than four teams talking about a potential deal with the Buccaneers. Three of those teams are big-time playoff contenders in the New England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks, and the Philadelphia Eagles, with the Eagles being a surprise on that list.

Many people speculated that the Patriots could be interested, even if they would have to take a significant cap hit. They did swing a blockbuster trade involving Tim Wright and Logan Mankins in the offseason, and they could score another pass-catcher for Tom Brady. The Patriots have been looking for a true “X” receiver, and Jackson would immediately fill that need. The only question is if the Patriots are willing to part ways with the cash and pick necessary.

The Seahawks make plenty of sense, as they are in a bit of a slump. They’ll get back on track shortly, but questions remain about the health of their passing attack, and those questions would be immediately quelled byJackson, who would seemingly fit their offense perfectly. Not only would he offer Russell Wilson a big target a la Jermaine Kearse, but he can also make big plays downfield, which is something the Seahawks need again.

It gets more interesting when looking at how Jackson would fit in with the Eagles, because there’s no question that he would be their best receiver. But I don’t understand why the Eagles would want to pay premium for a receiver when their passing attack is built on depth of weapons, and they already have sufficient depth and talent around Nick Foles.
