Jordan Cameron’s status uncertain for next two games

Cleveland Browns star tight end Jordan Cameron left Sunday’s win over the Oakland Raiders in the second quarter with a concussion after being hit illegally by Oakland Raiders safety Brandian Ross after a completion over the middle of the field. Cameron has a history of concussions, so this latest injury is of grave concern to the Browns, who have to balance their need to have him on the field with his long-term health. It’s consistent concussion that lead to the most damage over the course of a player’s life, so hopefully the Browns will be as cautious as possible.

  • According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer’s Mary Kay Cabot, Cameron’s status for the team’s next two games is in doubt, as she notes that this is his third concussion in less than two years. The Browns will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and rival Cincinnati Bengals in their next two games, and nobody should expect him to be out there this upcoming week against the Bucs. It just doesn’t give him enough to time to recover as he goes through the concussion protocol, and the Week 10 game against the Bengals is just too quick of a turn-around if he plays against Tampa Bay.

Browns head coach Mike Pettine didn’t offer any updates on Cameron’s injury, but that’s honestly because he and others don’t have any idea when it comes to concussion. As Pettine said, they just have to hope he can move through the protocol and get healthy, but there’s clearly no sense of rush here.

Cameron caught three passes for 40 yards before suffering the injury, and he has just 13 receptions on the season. We can only hope he can have a speedy recovery, but the most important thing to hope for is a full one.
