Lamar Miller will play tomorrow but will be limited

Miami Dolphins running back Lamar Miller suffered a sprained AC joint in the team’s 37-0 blowout win over the San Diego Chargers last week, but he still made his presence felt by turning 11 carries into a solid 49 yards and a touchdown for an average of 4.5 yards per carry. Throughout his third season in the league, the former Miami Hurricanes star has churned out solid yardage on a consistent basis for the Dolphins, and he’s one of the most underrated backs in the league. Not only does he have explosive talent, but he can add some value in the passing game and is a steady source of yardage on the ground.

  • While players can play through an AC sprain, they are painful and typically cause a one-week absence. Miller, however, is going for a zero-week absence, as the tough back has somehow managed to practice all week. Despite his impressive string of practice sessions, the Dolphins have wisely listed him as questionable, so he isn’t guaranteed to play in tomorrow’s big game against the Detroit Lions.

That said, Miller has been fully expected to play, and the Miami Herald’s Adam Beasley reports that this expectation hasn’t changed. Beasley reports that Miller will play against the Lions, but the Dolphins will likely limit him. That makes sense, since it’s best to be cautious given how important Miller is to the offense, and I’m sure he’ll be playing through a significant amount of pain.
