Cincinnati Bengals Andy Dalton Falling Short of Expectations

The expectations for Andy Dalton are high after he signed his contract extension. The fans expect him to lead the team to the playoffs year-in and year-out, but he has struggled this year.

The Cincinnati Bengals put in a ton of money toward Andy Dalton to run the franchise and it looked like he was going to respond with a great year at the start of the season. It hasn’t really looked pretty the last few games and the game against the Cleveland Browns was the most depressing to watch. The team was battling for the top spot in teh division and Dalton fell flat on his face in that game. It seems to be something that the Bengals and Dalton seem to do in big games all the time.

Just look at his numbers against Cleveland. He went 10-for-33 with 3 interceptions and finished the day with a quarterback rating of 2. TWO!!!!! Just in case you thought it was a typo.

For all the money that was sent in his direction, he has 8 touchdowns compared to 9 interceptions this year. It has not been the best season for Dalton. He has been without his top wide receiver, A.J. Green, for a lot of the season and that could be part of the issues. In his performance against the Browns though, Green was avaialble and played in the game.

Dalton needs to step his game up. If the Bengals do not get into the playoffs and make some noise, then there will be some disappointment in Cincy on that contract that he was given.
