Montee Ball, Rashad Jennings Injury Updates

Denver Broncos running back Montee Ball returned to practice before the team’s Week 10 rivalry game, but he was unsurprisingly held out. The Broncos didn’t need him out there against the winless Oakland Raiders, and, more fundamentally, they generally like to take it slow before bringing back players from significant injuries. They gave Ball an extra week of practice in order to make sure that he would be fully ready without any rust, and it will be interesting to see how many carries he gets today against the St. Louis Rams.

More from Denver Broncos

Ball is indeed active today, and his status was never in any sort of doubt. He will be the No. 2 back behind C.J. Anderson, who deserves to start after blowing up last week as a pass-catcher and rusher following Ronnie Hillman’s injury, which will cost him multiple weeks. Ball was usurped by Hillman, who may have been beaten out by Anderson as the No. 1 guy following his own injury.

New York Giants running back Rashad Jennings is also active today, and his status was never in doubt after being listed probable on the injury report. He’s also been out for several weeks, and Jennings is much more important to his team’s success as the Giants unquestioned feature back and workhorse. Getting him back is huge for this team, and their offense should immediately be significantly better with him in the fold, as he and rookie wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. have established themselves as staples on the team.
