Khiry Robinson not practicing

New Orleans Saints No. 2 running back Khiry Robinson has shown plenty of promise this season after receiving 54 carries in 2013, but he’s been out since Week 7 with an arm injury of unspecified severity. It doesn’t look like Robinson is close to returning, as the Saints announced that the 24-year-old missed yet another practice session today. Keenan Lewis, Jonathan Goodwin, Curtis Lofton, and Ben Grubbs were all limited participants, but Robinson’s status is easily the most noteworthy one right now.

The Saints will face the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, and each game is crucial for a team fighting for the top spot in the NFC South. It’s been a very disappointing season for Sean Payton’s squad and the division as a whole, as the NFC South has been a laughingstock instead of one of the league’s more competitive division, which was the expectation coming into the season.

I highly doubt Robinson practices tomorrow, let alone plays against Pittsburgh. With longer-term injuries like Robinson’s, you’d prefer to see that player practice to start the week and have plenty of time to rest up, so it looks like he’ll miss a sixth game. Robinson has averaged an excellent 5.2 yards per carry this season, so there is a spot for him in the lineup behind the powerful Mark Ingram, who did struggle last week, when he returns from this injury.
