The Dallas Cowboys finally began their preseason slate Thursday night, showing some good and some bad in their 17-7 loss to the host San Diego Chargers.

Though the wins and losses don’t matter at all in the preseason, what does matter is how the depth of the team plays, which is what the Cowboys showed in their first preseason game of the year with a lot of the offense sitting out the game.

The Cowboys did start Travis Frederick and Zack Martin on the offensive line, but the rest of the great o-line of the Cowboys sat on the bench, as did starting quarterback Tony Romo, Jason Witten, Dez Bryant and the top three running backs on the roster, among others.

Even with the stars on the bench, there was still a lot to take away from this game, and here are five points from the preseason opener that stood out on Thursday night.
