He handles the ball every snap, has to know what every player on both sides of the ball is doing on every play and has to be a vocal and emotional leader on his team. Before even getting to the physical side of the position, the quarterback is the most important player in the game of football.

In fact, with the NFL’s reliance on the passing game in recent times, I would not hesitate to consider quarterback to be the single most important position in all of professional sports. Simply put, if your NFL team does not at least receive solid production out of their quarterback, you can kiss any Super Bowl aspirations goodbye.

For a large percentage of the league, that is their most important issue. Finding a franchise quarterback is not easy. There simply are not enough to go around for the entire NFL. That being said, the 2016 draft class appears to have more potential franchise-type quarterbacks than most recent classes. For obvious reasons, this is an extremely good sign for quarterback needy teams.

There is still a long professional and college football season to go. By the time the draft rolls around next April, it is almost guaranteed that these names will change. As potential franchise quarterbacks emerge and of course fall on current NFL rosters, teams who will be looking at this quarterback draft class with undoubtedly be changing as well.

Because of the fluid situation that is an NFL roster, for now let’s just look at the players.

Here are the top ten quarterbacks who could be available for the 2016 NFL Draft.
