The shipwreck that is the 2015 season of the Dallas Cowboys had its Titanic moment on Sunday. Any hope that was on board has sunk, and now all there is to do is to wait for the final three weeks of the NFL season to be completed.

Mercifully but not mathematically, the 2015 season of the Cowboys is all but finally over thanks to the poor passing performance of Matt Cassel and the offense displayed on Sunday afternoon at Lambeau Field against the Green Bay Packers.

Cassel finished 13-of-29 for 114 yards with no touchdowns and one interception. In three of the past four games, Cassel hasn’t thrown a touchdown pass, including the past two games where on Sunday he completed just 44.8 percent of his passes, including just one pass for nine yards to Dez Bryant.

He targeted Bryant just six times and mostly just floated passes in the air, held onto the football too long, nd was the Cowboys’ defense’s worst enemy for the fact his passing skills kept them on the field way too much.

But that’s OK, right, because Charean Williams of star-telegram.com quoted Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett showing support to the embattled quarterback – basically the same way he and owner/general manager Jerry Jones did with Brandon Weeden, and we all know how that turned out.

Williams quoted Garrett as saying:

"“We believe in Matt Cassel,” Garrett said. “We believe he can win games for us. We will evaluate the tape before we talk about anything regarding personnel. Matt battles. He competes. Unfortunately, we didn’t do enough offensively to win this ballgame.”"

Are. You. Kidding. Me.

Do the Cowboys think their fans enjoy losing that much to believe anything you are saying right now? “He can win us games?” A little late for that rhetoric, isn’t it?

If Cassel can win games, why hasn’t he? Oh, the current excuse is the fact Cassel came in mid-season and is still learning the system. Whose fault was that? Why didn’t the Cowboys have a quarterback ready in the preseason not named Brandon Weeden?

Cassel has been on the roster since September. That’s nearly three months. Plus, if he throws the football like he did Sunday in Green Bay, he could have been on the roster for five years and he still would have been bad.

Here is an observation for the Cowboys decision makers … You dropped the ball. You dropped the ball on multiple occasions during this 2015 season, and now you expect your fans to really take anything you say seriously?

How can Cowboys fans trust or believe any of the words coming out off the mouth of Mr. Jones or Coach Garrett when Jones is on record earlier this season saying this of Weeden in a radio interview on KRLD-FM:

"“This quarterback Weeden can drive the ball down field,” he said. “He’s a thing of beauty on throwing a football. His passing motion and his arm, frankly, you won’t see a more gifted passer, power, accuracy, the entire aspect of it. If he can basically prepare, be the starting quarterback, come in and execute and keep his head right, then I feel good about Weeden.”"

I’m assuming Mr. Jones is still regretting those words, but now we hear the same thing about Cassel. The joke is on the Cowboys decision makers … this season is over.

Well, there are still three games that still need to be played, but being two games out of the NFC East lead with a 4-9 record, it is safe to say the season is over. The defense of the Cowboys played well for the most part, keeping Green Bay at bay with 14 points for a good amount, but with the offense of the Cowboys not being able to pass the football successfully, not staying on the field and running the clock, the defense just ran out of gas, and who can blame them?

With just three games left in the ’15 season, here is what all of us might be able to expect in the ensuing weeks.
