Pittsburgh Steelers: The Sky’s The Limit

There may not have been any aircrafts or pilots at Heinz Field yesterday but that didn’t stop the Pittsburgh Steelers offense from putting on an Air Show against the Denver Broncos.

Let me rephrase that: against the Denver Broncos’ #1 ranked passing defense.

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger aired out the ball 55 times and completed 40 of them for 380 yards and 3 touchdowns on the way to a Steelers victory 34-27.

ALSO ON SPIN ZONE: Who are the NFL’s most overpaid players?

WR Antonio Brown hauled in a mind-boggiling 16 receptions for 189 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The most astonishing part about last night’s game was how effortless the two made it look. They went after All-Pro CB Chris Harris Jr. and lets just say it: they embarrassed him. Going into Sunday’s contest, Harris hadn’t given up a touchdown in two years.

Brown caught two touchdown passes on him in less than 20 minutes of game play.

Lets not forget about Martavis Bryant who set a new career-high in receptions with 10. Sure, he didn’t break off a long reception like he routinely does in almost every other game. However, he reminded people that he is much more than just a deep-threat.

Markus Wheaton only hauled in his third touchdown over the last four games. With his 62 receiving yards yesterday, he’s now managed at least 50 yards receiving in each of the last four games. You know who hasn’t done that?

DeAndre Hopkins. Dez Bryant. Larry Fitzgerald. Calvin Johnson. Randall Cobb.

Is he as good as they other Wide Receivers? No but the production that he is providing as the team’s #3 WR is off the charts.

All of this can be credited to QB Ben Roethlisberger. Without him, this offense does not work (I see you Mike Vick). With him, it’s record-breaking.

Think about this: Roethlisberger had 380 passing yards yesterday. The Broncos defense gave up 337 yards passing over the last two games combined.

Over the last six games, he is averaging 366 passing yards per game. That is easily the most in the NFL over that span.

Next: Is Heath Miller one of the NFL's best TEs?

It might be a well known fact and something that was said numerous times throughout the week but it’s something worth saying again: The Denver Broncos has the best secondary in the NFL.

The Steelers just didn’t care.

If they had this much ease throwing the ball against the best secondary in the NFL, what team is going to stop this offense?

Hey Baltimore. Good luck.
