It sure didn’t take long for the Minnesota Vikings’ first round pick to make a splash play in minicamp.

New Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Laquon Tredwell, an Ole’ Miss product and the fourth wide receiver off the board in the 2016 NFL Draft, b-lined up the right sideline on what looked like a go route. With not much separation from the corner in press coverage, Treadwell seems to create just a tad bit of space between him and the defensive back to make the snag.

The video posted below isn’t exactly clear enough to make out who may have been covering the receiver, but with it being rookie mini  camp it could have been either undrafted rookie free agents, Keith Baxter or Tre Roberson, who fell victim to the sticky hands of Treadwell.

This wasn’t the first time, nor the last, we will see plays like these from the Minnesota Vikings rookie, Treadwell made of habit of such plays against some of the best in the SEC.

The Vikings should hope that their first round pick would stand above the rest in mini camp, and this a good first step for the team and for the confidence of the young receiver.

Rookie wide receivers standing out in camp was headline that was found early and often throughout team organized activities and training camp last year. Fifth round wide receiver out of Maryland, Stefon Diggs, stole the show practically every time he touched the football in camp, either in the return game or making ridiculous catches on offense.

The Minnesota Vikings hope the tandem of Diggs and Treadwell will create a jolt of offensive production via the passing game, something they haven’t had much of since the years of Brett Favre.

Sprinkle in Jarius Wright in the slot, and the chance of Cordarrelle Patterson growing into the receiver the Vikings had hoped for since his rookie season; the Minnesota Vikings could potentially be looking at one of the most potent offenses in the NFC.

The positive vibes are trending for the Purple and Gold. With the new indoor stadium opening in July, quarterback Teddy Bridgewater being drastically more productive indoors and the new additions at wide receiver and offensive line, running back Adrian Peterson (via ESPN) may be warranted in his prediction of a Super Bowl run.

The potential for this team is there, the body of work must now come to fruition on the field and not from the word of mouth.
