The Dallas Cowboys were in need of a backup quarterback after losing Kellen Moore and their Twitter page makes it seem like there’s some interest in Michael Vick.

After missing out on the Nick Foles sweepstakes, the Dallas Cowboys have been looking for a backup quarterback to Tony Romo for the 2016 season since Kellen Moore–who suffered a broken right fibula in training camp–will miss a couple of months.

The Cowboys learned the hard way in 2015 just how important it is to have a reliable backup after Romo (shoulder) was limited to playing in just four games and the team won just one game without their star quarterback. Moore was the only backup quarterback from last year returning to Dallas for the 2016 season, but an interesting post from the team’s Twitter page has everyone believing the Cowboys are interested in signing Michael Vick.

For the record, there is no official word regarding a deal between Vick and the Cowboys at this point, but why on earth would the team post this message if there wasn’t some sort of meaning behind it? Vick has made it clear he would like to play at least one more season for another shot at a Super Bowl run and with the Cowboys in desperate need of a backup quarterback, this situation seems like a match made in heaven for both parties.

It will be interesting to see if these two parties agree to some sort of deal over the next few days, but this is all just speculation at the moment. Still, it’s tough not to wonder why Dallas would post this kind of thing on their Twitter page without some sort of meaning behind it.

Dallas fans may not want to admit it, but Vick would bring plenty to the table and would be a major upgrade when comparing him to the rest of the backups on the roster. Even though he’s only started 12 games over the last three seasons, fans should feel confident enough about Vick when looking at his three starts from the 2015 season with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Not only did Vick post a 2-1 record in those three starts, but he completed over 60 percent of his passes and proved to be still effective with his legs by rushing for 99 yards as well. For a 36-year-old quarterback, these numbers are pretty amazing and indicate Vick still has what it takes to play football for at least one more year like he hopes to do.

Stay tuned, Cowboys fans as the organization can deny their interest in Vick all they want, but this tweet indicates otherwise.
