Who would have guessed that Miami Dolphins running back Jay Ajayi would be one of the best in the business?

When Miami Dolphins second-year pro Jay Ajayi blasted the Pittsburgh Steelers run defense for 204 yards and two touchdowns last week, some wrote off his game as being more about the Steelers injuries and awful play on defense. However, Ajayi took the Buffalo Bills defense to task today, and pretty much carrie his team on a day in which Ryan Tannehill struggled mightily.

The Bills were up 17-14 on the Dolphins, but that lead did not last them long. They had no answers for Ajayi.

Ajayi didn’t score on this 53-yard run, but this is far more impressive than 95 percent of the touchdowns you will watch.

Pinned near his own goal line, Ajayi’s job was just to move the ball forward on second-and-eight. Instead, he completely gashed the Bills defense, and nobody could bring him down. Ajayi made some impossibly nasty cuts after finding the hole, but he still had more work to do. Somehow, he broke a tackle from two Bills defenders trying to bring him down at the same time, and star cornerback Ronald Darby finally caught up to him in opponent’s territory.

Talk about flipping the field.

Ajayi is just five rushing yards away from joining Ricky Williams, Earl Campbell, and O.J. Simpson as the only players in NFL history to have back-to-back 200-yard games.

Not bad for a guy the coaching staff didn’t seem to like.
