The Pittsburgh Steelers tried to come back on the road against the Baltimore Ravens, but a botched onside kick ended their chances and gave them a loss.

26. 14. 55. Final. 21

Through three quarters in this huge AFC North matchup, the Baltimore Ravens dominated the Pittsburgh Steelers. They weren’t running away by any stretch, but they stifled a returning Ben Roethlisberger and put points up in each quarter. That scoring included a 95-yard touchdown pass to Mike Wallace from Joe Flacco and two Justin Tucker field goals. After a blocked punt return to start the fourth quarter and a subsequent two-point conversion, the Ravens led 21-0.

However, Roethlisberger and company finally came alive after the special teams gaffe. He first put together a five-minute drive that culminated in a 23-yard touchdown pass to Antonio Brown. Pittsburgh then stopped the Ravens and hope remained alive. Big Ben orchestrated a quick drive that resulted in a touchdown run for the quarterback, leaving 48 seconds on the clock.

Obviously the onside kick was coming just to give the Steelers a chance. However, kicker Chris Boswell tried to get fancy with a rabona kick and botched it horribly. The ball got trapped between his legs and effectively ended the game there. The Steelers fell just short and are now tied atop the division with Baltimore.

Three Stars

Mike Wallace, Ravens – Wallace burned the Steelers a handful of times, but most notably on a 95-yard touchdown catch. He finished with four catches, 124 yards, and the one score.

Antonio Brown, Steelers – Not shockingly, Roethlisberger looked Brown’s way all day long, targeting him 11 times. AB finished with seven grabs for 85 yards and a touchdown.

James Harrison, Steelers – Even in the loss, you have to praise what the veteran Harrison did on Sunday in this matchup. He finished with six total tackles, two sacks, two tackles-for-loss, and a quarterback hit.
