Janoris Jenkins came up with a big play for the New York Giants, taking advantage of a Dez Bryant slip to get an interception off Dak Prescott.

Dak Prescott embarrassed the New York Giants with a fake late in the first quarter. In doing so, the rookie put his Dallas Cowboys ahead, 7-0. After an Eli Manning turnover, the Cowboys were on the verge of picking up serious momentum on the road and potentially starting to run away with the game. Giants cornerback Janoris Jenkins wasn’t about to let that happen when the opportunity to make a play presented itself.

When Dez Bryant slipped trying to cut quickly inside, that opportunity did indeed present itself.

With it having snowed at MetLife Stadium earlier in the evening, they said that the field was slick at the top of the NBC broadcast. It certainly looked it as Bryant, being covered by Jenkins, tried to plant and cut inside. He completely lost his footing and went to the ground. However, Prescott had read the coverage and seen that, if Dez were on his feet, he’d have been open. So the rookie made the throw and only Jenkins was standing. He still had a tough grab to make, but the veteran hauled it in nicely for the big interception:

As mentioned, if Bryant doesn’t fall there, it’s a completion (likely, at least) for the Cowboys. But that almost makes you respect the play by Jenkins even a bit more.

It takes tremendous wherewithal to deal with a player going down at your feet and ball coming in that hot when you aren’t entirely ready. However, Jenkins was able to make the play and then even stay on his feet to get some extra yardage. That’s a hell of a play by the corner.
