In what may go down as the biggest news of 2017 NFL free agency, the Cleveland Browns agree to acquire Brock Osweiler from the Houston Texans.

For years, the Cleveland Browns have been a team in desperate need of help at the quarterback position, but the team has kept themselves busy on the first day of free agency by boosting the offensive line with the signings of. Now, it looks like Browns are hopeful to have finally found their quarterback of the future in Brock Osweiler.

In a move that has stunned the NFL world, the Houston Texans agreed to trade Osweiler to the Browns on Thursday, which has started all sorts of rumors surrounding the possibility of Tony Romo joining Bill O’Brien‘s squad. The one factor that seemed to be holding the Texans back of bringing Tony Romo on board for the 2017 season was the large contract of Osweiler, but now that he’s going to be a member of the Browns, Houston in general has to feel relieved over moving on from their once quarterback.

When it comes to the biggest regrets from the 2016 season, the Texans signing Osweiler to a massive four-year, $72 million deal ranked near the top of the list when considering he threw more interceptions (16) than touchdowns (15) during the regular season. With that being said, that doesn’t mean Osweiler doesn’t have what it takes to still turn things around and become an elite quarterback at the NFL level since last year was technically his first full season as the starter.

Cleveland has been making some big splashes in free agency, but there’s no question this will be the most discussed move of the offseason. Keep in mind Hue Jackson has a history of successfully developing quarterbacks, so maybe the acquisition of Osweiler will work out for both parties after all.
