A healthy Marvin Jones enters the 2017 fantasy football season on everyone’s radar, but what should the Detroit Lions wide receiver’s draft value be?

If you drafted Marvin Jones last season, your fantasy football season started on a good note. His first year with the Detroit Lions started on a good note. Jones totaled 50 fantasy points by Week 3 and seemed in line for a monstrous year.

By Week 4, fantasy owners were missing the Jones that just took them to victory. He barely totaled 70 fantasy points over for the rest of the season. Although some analysts believe Jones was just lucky during the first three weeks of the season, the truth is it probably had much to do with his ongoing foot and leg issues.

Even after flopping most of the season, Jones still managed to outperform many wide receivers. He finished as the No. 33 wide receiver in fantasy football in 2016 when it was all said and done. Keep in mind that by Week 4, Jones was the No. 3 wide receiver in the league, falling in behind Antonio Brown and Julio Jones.

Lions head coach Jim Caldwell has shown confidence in Jones and his conditioning in the offseason and ahead of what’s to come during training camp. Jones will be featured in the offense this season, and will be able to show his true talents with Anquan Boldin not returning.

Jones is projected to see a little over 100 targets. It’s also expected that he’ll have almost 800 receiving yards on over 60 completions. Those numbers don’t scream WR1 potential, but Jones can fill the WR2 and WR3 position. He’s also a great FLEX option.

After battling injuries last season and having stronger competition for targets, Jones figures to have a better 2017. While the safe bet is to draft him as a WR2 or 3, he has the upside to perform above that if things play out right.
