Training camp is here, so what will the Washington Redskins 53-man roster look like once the practices and preseason are complete?

Training camp season is now upon us. So we can officially begin projections for the 2017 season. As training camp is set to begin for the Washington Redskins on July 26, it’s a perfect time to project the team’s final 53-man roster.

Rosters change before the season starts as other teams cut players and they land on another team’s 53-man opening-day roster. Injuries change things, too. So, the final three or four spots on every roster are fluid and can change quite a bit through the season. Most teams have a Ross Ventrone, a player who gets moved between the practice squad and 53-man roster numerous times throughout the season. Ventrone, a former New England Patriot, had 31 career transactions in his three-plus years with the Pats.

The Redskins roster changed quite a bit this offseason. DeSean Jackson, Pierre Garcon and Chris Baker are some of the names gone. Terrelle Pryor, Jonathan Allen and Zach Brown are some of the newcomers.

The biggest question facing some teams is should they carry two or three quarterbacks? If you have a top-notch signal-caller, many teams use that spot on an extra offensive lineman. Or, perhaps, carry an extra receiver or running back that stands out on special teams.

The Redskins face this dilemma, too. They have an entrenched starter at quarterback in Kirk Cousins and one of the best backups in the league in Colt McCoy. So, do they expose Nate Sudfeld to waivers and take a chance of sneaking him on the practice squad?

Here’s our best stab at what Washington’s 53-man roster could look like on the come Week 1. Remember, things change as there will be one or two players who have a big summer and push themselves onto the roster. It happens every year.
