Report: Arizona Cardinals Want Third-Round Pick for Anquan Boldin

facebooktwitterreddit

Michael Lombardi of NationalFootballPost.com is reporting that the Arizona Cardinals would be willing to part with disgruntled wide receiver Anquan Boldin for a measly third-round pick.

If that’s true, expect that Boldin will get moved very quickly after March 5th — the start of the new league year.

Teams like the Miami Dolphins, Kansas City Chiefs, Chicago Bears, Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Tennessee Titans, Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers, and several other teams would be very interested in Boldin if it means only parting with a third-round pick.

Of course, any team trading for Boldin would have to also give him a new deal, but at 30 years old and coming off a down season (for Boldin, anyway), It may not take $10 million per season to make him happy.

Boldin instantly makes any team’s passing attack dangerous. Especially a team like the Bears or Dolphins who have young, strong-arms quarterbacks but seem to lack real targets.

My guess is that it will come down to either the Dolphins or Bears. The Bears have said they’re willing to spend some money this offseason, so that could work, but they’re also rumored to be interested in Julius Peppers. If they sign Peppers, they may not be willing to shell out the money on Boldin.

They have been connected to Brandon Marshall trade rumors, however, so Boldin could become extremely appealing as he comes with less baggage and a smaller contract.

No matter who steps to the plate, I expect them to do it very soon.
