Jake Delhomme a Good Fit in Cleveland?

facebooktwitterreddit

According to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, and later confirmed by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Cleveland Browns will be hosting former Carolina Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme sometime in the next couple of days.

The Browns have already made some significant moves at quarterback by cutting Derek Anderson, trading for Seneca Wallace, and putting Brady Quinn on the trade block.

Cleveland is up in arms about the thought of bringing in a guy like Delhomme because, in all honesty, he’s probably not much better than Anderson or Quinn. He helped the Panthers get to a Super Bowl, but that seems like forever ago.

The Delhomme we all know now is incredibly erratic with his throws and his decision-making and, at this point, seems to only hurt his team.

He might be a good backup somewhere, but I don’t honestly see the Browns pulling the trigger on this.

He’s being brought in because he has done some good things in this league, but it looks like those days are over and the Browns probably know it as well as we do. If he’s brought in, it will most likely be as the backup to Wallace, who Holmgren obviously really likes.

And if Holmgren likes Wallace, something tells me Eric Mangini will too.
