One of the few teams in this pick range that did not trade up or down, the Arizona Cardinals stood pat and got a great value at 26 when they selected defensive tackle from Tennessee, Dan Williams.
Williams immediately fills a pressing need for the Cardinals by providing them with a big, run-stuffing defensive tackle.
With the hybrid 3-4 and 4-3 that the Cardinals run, Williams’ versatility allows him to play defensive tackle in the 4-3, despite weighing in at 330-pounds.
Williams carries his weight very well, but he is still a load and is able to be a force if placed in the 3-4 that Arizona also runs. He will have every opportunity to make a difference for the Cardinals in 2010, and could work his way into the starting role.
