Detroit Lions Select RB Jahvid Best 30th Overall

The Detroit Lions took care of their most pressing need with the second overall pick earlier in the draft and took defensive tackle, Ndamukong Suh.

The Lions felt like they needed to make another splash and traded up with the Minnesota Vikings to take the explosive running back from Cal, Jahvid Best.

The Lions gave up its second round pick (No. 34), and one of it’s seventh rounders (No. 214) while swapping 4th round picks with Minnesota.

Best, who some may consider too small and fragile to play the running back position, is the exact same size as the NFL’s leading rusher in 2009, Chris Johnson.

While Best did miss the final four games of his 2009 college season, it was the result of a play in which he sacrificed his body in order to score a touchdown, and is simply a “freak” injury if you will.

he will be able to come in and take the load off of a recovering Kevin Smith, who is coming off of a knee injury, and add to an already young, and potentially explosive offense in Detroit.
