Kirk Morrison Traded to Jacksonville Jaguars

In what was another solid move for the Oakland Raiders in the 2010 NFL Draft (Yeah, we know. Draft, good and Raiders don’t fit well together), The Raiders sent linebacker Kirk Morrison and a fifth-round pick (No. 153) to the Jacksonville Jaguars for their fourth-round pick (No. 108).
Morrison, who has been on the trading block for most of the off-season, should make an easy splash in Jacksonville under the always intense Jack Del Rio.
Meanwhile, the Raiders use that 108th overall selection to take speedster, and playmaker, Jacoby Ford out of Clemson two picks after taking tackle Bruce Campbell, whom they were rumored to be taking with the eighth overall selection.
The Jaguars were players in the chase to get Penn State linebacker, Sean Lee, but came up short when he was drafted in the second-round by the Dallas Cowboys.
Morrison becomes the second option, and a very good one to say the least. He immediately upgrades a shaky, and inconsistent rush defense in Jacksonville that gave up 116 yards per game on the ground, which was only good enough for 19th in the league.
Morrison has gotten better each of his five years in the NFL, but could never re-shape a bad Raiders defense and has since fallen out of favor. In his defense, I don’t think the great Lawrence Taylor could have helped those awful defenses.
He has had 116 or more tackles in every season since he had that total his rookie year. The Jaguars got a solid player that can stillhelp them for years to come for just a fourth-rounder, which makes this a great value.
