Surprise, Surprise: Colts’ Bob Sanders Might Miss Remainder of 2010 Season

Try to hold in your shock, but there’s a good chance Bob Sanders could miss the rest of the 2010 season with an elbow injury. Sanders was hurt in the Colts’ loss to the Houston Texans and did not return.

Head coach Jim Caldwell is trying to temper the flames and keep the rumors under control, but few are buying it. The more shocking scenario would be to find out Sanders will actually play again this season.

“That’s all speculation right now, just in terms of he’s having an MRI some time today, a little bit later on, he has not had it as of yet,” Caldwell told the Indianapolis Star. “After that’s been reviewed and taken a look at it and he’s evaluated, then they will come up with some type of prognosis at that time.”

But unfortunately for the Colts, Sanders’ prognosis is always bad.

As Aaron Wilson of NationalFootballPost.com points out, Sanders has missed 27 of 36 possible games since signing a five-year, $37.5 million extension three years ago.

There’s no way a guy is just that unlucky. There has got to be something wrong with Sanders’ training. Either that or he just has no threshold for pain and the team exaggerates his injuries to make him, and them, look better.

Either way, the cycle is repeating for Sanders and it has to have the fans in Indianapolis wondering just how long they’re going to put up with this guy collecting a check from the sidelines.
