Brad Childress Could Be Signing His Pink Slip By Keeping Brett Favre

Brad Childress has been a Brett Favre believer ever since he arrived in Minnesota. Chilly acquired him for the sole purpose of winning a Super Bowl.

Okay, that’s very fine and dandy except they haven’t won yet. Instead, they have created a media circus each offseason in wondering whether or not Favre will stay retired or return. If I’m the owner of the Minnesota Vikings, I would make it a point to sit down with Brad Childress and discuss his future and the future course of the team.

I would talk to Childress about prepping for the future and building a team with the promise of many Super Bowls.

By keeping Favre around, the Vikings are putting a band-aid on a gaping wound. Pretty soon, the band-aid is going to peel off or snap. Then what? Tarvaris Jackson? TJ isn’t necessarily a horrible quarterback but he isn’t necessarily the quarterback capable of taking the Vikings to the Super Bowl either.

My point? Draft a franchise quarterback and allow him to study under Brett Favre. Instead, the Vikes insist on keeping Favre in the hopes that Tarvaris Jackson will be the next Aaron Rodgers. That’s not going to happen, folks.

Tarvaris most likely isn’t any better than he was pre-Favre.

I don’t know the Vikings’ owner, nor do I know how his psyche is at this present time. The only thing that I do know is that with every dollar thrown at Brett Favre each off-season, another high-ranking official in Minny is on the hot seat.
