Who Will Land QB Tarvaris Jackson in Free Agency?

Former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Tarvaris Jackson will be looking for a new home in free agency this season. In his five years of action at the NFL level, Jackson has hovered around the level of mediocrity with his 24 touchdowns and 22 interceptions.

The 28-year-old Jackson could still find himself targeted by a handful of teams. His experience will work to his advantage for teams that are looking for a veteran to help ease the transition of their young signal callers.

Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network named three teams who he believes could be in the market for Jackson’s services — the Washington Redskins, Seattle Seahawks and Miami Dolphins.

Out of the possibilities the Seattle Seahawks are the most interesting option. The Dolphins have been linked to every free agent quarterback this offseason, but I think they will be more willing to go with what they currently have on their roster or select Terrelle Pryor in the supplemental draft.

With the Redskins, Mike Shanahan seems to have an unhealthy mancrush on John Beck, so bringing in Jackson would not make the most sense. In Seattle, they have Charlie Whitehurst but may not have another option if Matt Hasselbeck leaves the team in free agency.

Jackson isn’t the most impressive quarterback in the NFL, but he will be able to help a team like Seattle in spot duty. If Whitehurst was to go down or not live up to the coaching staffs hopes, Jackson is more than capable of filling in and doing a respectable job.
