NFL Spin Zone’s goal is to be your one-stop destination for all things NFL. With the season quickly approaching, we will be bringing you some Q&A’s with editors around the Fansided Network to give you an idea of how each team should fare in the upcoming season.

Up next is the Jacksonville Jaguars. Andrew Hofheimer, site editor from BlackAndTeal.com,  took some time out of her schedule to answer a few questions and give us an informed look at what to expect from the Jacksonville Jaguars this season.

Spin Zone: What are your realistic expectations for the Jaguars this season?

Black & Teal: A winning record, contending late for the AFC South championship, finishing the season strongly instead of fizzling as we have the last few years, hopefully a playoff birth

NFLSZ: Who are a few players that need to perform this season or their futures with the team will be in jeopardy?

B&T: Derek Cox, David Garrard (probably is anyway with Gabbert behind him), Eben Britton, Rashean Mathis

NFLSZ: What players are poised for a breakout year?

B&T: Cecil Shorts III, Tyson Alualu, Austen Lane, Rashad Jennings

NFLSZ: What is Jacksonville’s biggest strength heading into the season?

B&T: Youth, depth along defensive line, strong veteran LBs, very good RBs

NFLSZ: What worries you most about the team?

B&T: Offensive line – protecting QB and making the holes we need for our running game.

NFLSZ: Where do you see the Jags finishing in the AFC South?

B&T: 2nd, with a wild card birth

NFLSZ: What are some storylines to follow with Jacksonville this year?

B&T: Blaine Gabbert’s development and if he can overtake Garrard before the season or mid-season. Can defense (especially pass coverage and rush) improve from last year? Can we keep momentum at the end of the season?

NFLSZ: Predict the Jaguars record.

B&T: 10-6

NFLSZ: How will the shortened offseason effect your team this year?

B&T: Gabbert had little/no time to learn offense and have a realistic shot at overtaking Garrard. other than that, we are pretty well off because little changed in way of coaches/systems/major players.

NFLSZ: What can fans expect from Black & Teal this upcoming season?

B&T: A totally comprehensive coverage of everything Jaguars. Lots of original and fun column ideas. Real fans. Real personality.
