ESPN Parts Ways With Hank Williams Jr.

ESPN has decided to cut ties with Hank Williams, Jr. after his controversial remarks earlier this week that led to the removal of his lead-in to Monday Night Football. In a statement released by ESPN, the stated:

"We have decided to part ways with Hank Williams, Jr. We appreciate his contributions over the past years. The success of Monday Night Football has always been about the games and that will continue."

Truer words have not been spoken. Did we really need a man holding a guitar to ask us if we were “ready for some football?” Did it really take an annoying, unnecessary song to get you pumped up for the game that was about to come on your television? The answer is no.

Hank Williams got what he was asking for. He had a mental lapse and made comments that went too far out of bounds and he left ESPN no choice but to part ways with him. He quickly found out what it meant to be non-essential personnel. On a positive note, the weekend is quickly approaching and I am ready for some football. I don’t need Hank to confirm that.
