2012 NFL Draft: Utah State RB Robert Turbin Turning Pro

Most of the underclassmen who have declared for the 2012 NFL Draft have been from NCAA powerhouses. That has all changed now that Utah State Aggies running back Robert Turbin has announced his intentions to turn pro and give the NFL a shot.

Turbin rushed for 1,517 yards and 19 touchdowns on the season, while adding an additional four scores receiving. The impressive numbers earned Turbin the honor of being the Western Athletic Conference’s offensive player of the year. Turbin released a statement on his decision:

“After going back and forth with my decision, I’ve decided that it’s best for me and my family to take the next step and go pro. I appreciate everyone who has helped me along the way and who has supported me. Utah State will continue to grow, and hopefully I’ve left something the new guys can improve on when they go in and get their opportunity.”

Turbin has filed papers to see where his draft value stands, but he has not received any word back. As of now, expect Turbin to be called in the third or fourth round range. He can improve that standing with impressive workouts during the draft season.
