Where Will Jeff Fisher Land?
By Blake Lovell
Black Friday has come and gone in the NFL, and several teams are looking for new leaders.
The Dolphins got rid of Tony Sparano a while back. The Bucs canned Raheem Morris following a nice little 10-game losing streak to end the year. And Steve Spagnuolo has been removed as head coach of the Rams.
Of course, there’s likely more to come.
Plenty of rumors have been flying around that Jim Caldwell could be fired in Indianapolis following the removal of the Polians. Then there’s the rumors in San Diego that Norv Turner has coached his last game with the Chargers.
Who knows what happens next. But one name is already in the mix with pretty much every job opening out there right now. And that name is Jeff Fisher.
Fisher is reportedly meeting with the Dolphins today, although rumors are flying around today that Fisher is most likely to choose St. Louis as his next coaching destination.
Supposedly, Fisher wants to coach at a place where a franchise quarterback is already in place. So choosing St. Louis would make sense assuming that they still believe that Sam Bradford is their future at quarterback.
But until the official word comes down, other teams make sense too. The Bucs have Josh Freeman. And if Caldwell is out in Indy, then there’s Peyton Manning or Andrew Luck to work with (and honestly, what coach wouldn’t want that?). Plus there’s the whole California connection and Philip Rivers if Turner exits San Diego.
All signs seem to point toward the Rams being the favorites at this point, but hey, this is the NFL coaching carousel.
Anything can happen.
