Could Peyton Manning End Up With The Baltimore Ravens?
By Josh Sanchez
The Peyton Manning saga has created much speculation about where Manning could end up playing football in 2012. It seems all but certain that Manning will not be with the Indianapolis Colts, but where could Manning end up? We have all heard the same old possibilities — Washington Redskins, Seattle Seahawks, New York Jets, Miami Dolphins. But after a recent hire, there is a darkhorse in the Manning sweepstakes to keep an eye on.
The Baltimore Ravens are expected to hire former Colts head coach Jim Caldwell as the team’s quarterbacks coach. Could that build the bridge that brings Manning over to Baltimore?
Manning and Caldwell have been together since 2002. Caldwell was Manning’s quarterback coach from 2002-2008, when he then took over as the Colts head coach. The two men have a great relationship and respect for each other, so if Manning is looking for a new home Caldwell could certainly lure him in.
Caldwell got his start in the NFL thanks to Tony Dungy, who is also close to Peyton Manning. Could the Caldwell-Manning relationship bring Peyton to Baltimore? That would be a perfect fit. Baltimore is ready to win now and current quarterback Joe Flacco has been nothing but mediocre in his career.
With an aging, but still top-ranked defense and a top running back in Ray Rice, all of the tools are in place for the Ravens to make a championship push with Manning at the helm.
