I’m sure you are all getting tired of the Peyton Manning drama. It is getting worse than the Brett Favre soap opera and is approaching the level of Tebowmania, however, the story is not going anywhere so get used to reading about it. Manning is a first-ballot Hall of Famer and one of the best quarterbacks we will see in our lifetimes, so anything about his future is a big story.
That said, what is the latest in the Peyton Manning saga? Well, when Sodapop… excuse me. Well, when Robe Lowe first announced that he heard Manning’s career was over, people just brushed it aside.
Now, with the Super Bowl being in Indianapolis, Manning’s future is almost as big of a story as the game itself. With Manning being an Indy legend, people are discussing where he could play next season, if he does at all. The more people talk, the louder whispers get that Manning’s career is over.
Philadelphia Eagles beat writer Jeff McLane wrote today on Twitter:

If that’s what some beat writers are hearing, then perhaps Rob Lowe wasn’t completely blowing smoke out into the media. In fact, people close to Manning also believe this could be the end. Per Yahoo! Sports, those close to Manning say the nerves in his neck “don’t appear to be progressing at enough of a rate to indicate that he will play again.” They go on to say he has lost velocity on his passes. The end is definitely near.
Manning has admitted that he is not yet healthy, so perhaps he would rather retire than play with another team. That would let Manning save face with the fans and go out without any negative storylines attached to his name. Is this the end for Peyton Manning?
