Newly named Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians may have slipped and released a key nugget on the Colts future at quarterback, when speaking with the media. Everyone knows about the ongoing Peyton Manning drama and speculates that he will not return to Indianapolis next season, but did Arians let the cat out of the bag for good?
“Hopefully Peyton can come back and get ready to go. But, there will be a new quarterback and a new beginning,” Arians said.
Um, excuse me Bruce? A new quarterback and new beginning? Is it just me or does this all but confirm that Andrew Luck will be drafted with the first-overall pick and Peyton Manning will hit the free agent market? I am sure you all see this, too.
Manning and the Colts are done. It’s over. It’s time for both sides to come out and say it. If the Super Bowl was not in Indianapolis, the decision likely would have been announced this week. Unfortunately, the team does not want to take away from the festive mood of Super Bowl weekend and create negative press, so that means the saga continues for at least another week.
Don’t be surprised when teams start publicly showing their interest in Manning once the Super Bowl madness is over. Manning will be playing somewhere next season, but it won’t be in Indianapolis. Get ready Arizona, Miami, Washington and Seattle. He could be yours.
