There seems to be very little doubt that the Cleveland Browns are looking to add a top wide receiver this offseason. Some NFL mock drafts suggest the team should give Justin Blackmon a look in the first-round of the upcoming draft, but the folks in Cleveland would prefer to add a veteran wideout to the group.
If the Browns are looking for a veteran receiver, one top option could be DeSean Jackson — especially with his connections to GM Tom Heckert and head coach Pat Shurmur — Heckart drafted Jackson in 2008, while Shurmur was the team’s quarterbacks coach that season.
It would be a costly move for Cleveland, but one that makes all of the sense in the world. Jackson would fill a huge need at receiver, while giving him a change of scenery and new deal to revive his career.
By adding Jackson, Cleveland can use their first-round picks to fill other needs — mainly grabbing a quarterback like Robert Griffin III. Griffin and Jackson would be two excellent additions to the Browns and would have the fans very excited about the explosive offense and potential they bring.
Could Jackson end up with the Browns? It is very possible. Expect the Eagles to slap the franchise tag on him and try to shop the dual-threat player to interested teams around the league and don’t be surprised when Cleveland answers the call.
