Over the next few weeks as we lead into the 2012 NFL Draft, prospect scouting reports will be rolled out so you can get a closer look at a few of the players your team could be selecting in April. To start things off, we will begin with the top prospect in this draft class — Andrew Luck.

Player: Andrew Luck
Position: Quarterback
School: Stanford
Height: 6-foot-4
Weight: 235-pounds

Positives: Prototypical build for QB, Played in pro-style offense at Stanford, amazing arm strength and accuracy, can make all the NFL type throws, completion % was over 70 in past two years, possibly the most highly touted prospect in a decade, athletic and mobile, great technician with excellent footwork

Negatives: Maybe too overhyped?, Will challenge his arm and throw some interceptions, Always had the compliment of a strong running game in college, could work on selling play action more.

Draft Grade: 1st overall

Overview: Andrew Luck is the epitome of the term “Franchise Quarterback.” He looks the part and even more importantly, plays the part. Coming from a pro-style offense, Luck already has the valuable experience of the proper footwork and technique of playing primarily under center.

He was extremely productive throughout his career for being a QB on a heavy running team — just another testament to his overall ability to play the position at a high level. Luck has all the tools, knowledge, and experience to step right into the starting spot of a troubled organization and be effective. A simply outstanding prospect, who will be fun to watch develop into an NFL superstar.
