Detroit Lions Interested In Free Agent CB Cortland Finnegan

The Detroit Lions will be looking to add some veteran talent to the secondary this offseason and one available cornerback is drawing their interest early — Cortland Finnegan.
Finnegan has a reputation for being a dirty player, but he is just a hard-nosed, well-rounded player who would fit in perfectly with the Lions mentality and scheme. If the Lions could land Finnegan, it would reunite him with his former coach, Jim Schwartz, who is said to have a great relationship with Finnegan.
Of course, the Lions make perfect sense, but there will also be a big market for the top free-agent corner. League sources say that St. Louis, Dallas, Oakland, San Francisco, Atlanta, Tampa Bay and Jacksonville could all be in play for Finnegan’s services.
The Lions could have the upper hand, with the Schwartz connection, but would that be enough to lure Finnegan to Detroit despite larger financial offers from another team? That will be something to play close attention to. Finnegan is a difference maker on defense and will be a great addition for whoever lands him.
