John Fox Wants To Bring In Competition For Tim Tebow

The Denver Broncos have already stated that Tim Tebow is the team’s starting quarterback heading into next season. However, Tebow will have some competition if he wants to keep the starting role heading into the regular season. Broncos head coach John Fox told Mike Klis of the Denver Post that he would like two new quarterbacks on the team’s roster by training camp.

So two new quarterbacks, right John?

Numbers wise that’s accurate,” Fox said. “Who, what, where, when, what market — it’s still way too early how we get those quarterbacks.”

It’s uncertain how the Broncos will go about adding the competition, but common sense would tell you they will take at least one quarterback in the draft and then attempt to add a veteran signal-caller via free agency. Just how high could Denver look or a quarterback in the draft? That will be interesting to watch.

There are a lot of quarterback prospects that will be available in the first couple of rounds for Denver — Ryan Tannehill, Brock Osweiler, Brandon Weeden, Kirk Cousins, Nick Foles — but will the Broncos be willing to draft a new guy that early? You would have to think so.

As for the free agent options, you would have to think no top free agent quarterback would want to go to Denver because of the insane fan base that follows Tebow so closely. It almost seems like a cult-like following, so why put yourself in that situation if you have the choice?

Again, I don’t see a top free-agent heading to Denver, but don’t count out guys like Shaun Hill or Chad Henne.

Whoever ends up on the Broncos roster next season will have their hands full, but will have a very good chance at earning the starting role if Tebow continues his struggles at quarterback early in the season.
