The Cleveland Browns have been viewed as a favorite to trade up to the second-overall pick to select quarterback Robert Griffin III, because of their two first-round picks. . However, a recent development could hurt the Browns chances to land the St. Louis Rams pick.
It is being reported that the Browns are unwilling to trade their second first-round pick — number 22 overall.
Without the second first-round pick, the Browns do not have the clear cut advantage that was previously thought. This could open things up for teams like the Washington Redskins and Miami Dolphins, who have also been mentioned in talks with the St. Louis Rams.
If Cleveland truly believes RGIII could be their quarterback of the future, they need to package both picks. If they do not believe in Griffin, it makes sense why they will not include pick 22. Whatever happens, there is a lot of intrigue at the top of the 2012 NFL Draft. It will be interesting to see who lands in the number two spot.
