The official start of the new league year is almost upon us. The next big date will be NFL Free Agency. As I am sure you have all gathered by now, we have been bringing you some hard-hitting free agency coverage and we plan to keep bringing you the same throughout the free agency period.
As signings happen and players start to find their new homes, rumors will pop up here and there about potential new signings. There are always numerous rumors and it is hard to keep track. Which rumors hold weight and which rumors can be dismissed? That is what we don’t know. However, it doesn’t make it any less fun to look at the rumors.
Let’s look at some of the top rumors as we head into the free agency period:
- Lance Zierlein of the Houston Chronicle, believes that the Washington Redskins will heavily pursue top free agent wide receiver Vincent Jackson.
- Randy Moss will work out for the San Francisco 49ers tomorrow and will have a former Colts quarterback throwing to him.
- The Denver Broncos are reportedly the heavy favorites to land Peyton Manning. Latest estimations have their chances at 95%.
- The Cincinnati Bengals have the most cap space available. They could prove to be major players in free agency.
- Multiple teams including the Jets, Bears and Eagles are interested in safety LaRon Landry.
- Cincinnati would like to bring back safety Reggie Nelson.
- Wide Receiver Josh Morgan will generate a lot of interest in free agency, but he will likely return to San Francisco.
- If the Denver Broncos acquire Peyton Manning, Tim Tebow will be traded.
- I have heard time and time again that Denver is willing to do whatever it takes to land Peyton Manning. This includes bringing in a combination of Reggie Wayne, Pierre Garcon, Joseph Addai and Dallas Clark.
- BenJarvus Green-Ellis is generating very strong interest from at least one team. It makes perfect sense for that team to be the Kansas City Chiefs.
- It is now beginning to look like Peyton Manning will not make a decision on his new team before the start of free agency.
- The Miami Dolphins will likely turn their focus to Green Bay backup Matt Flynn.
- While the Washington Reskins will do whatever it takes to land Vincent Jackson, it appears that the Buccaneers have the inside track. They could also bring in Cortland Finnegan as a package deal.
