Peyton Manning Chooses The Denver Broncos; Tim Tebow On The Trade Block

Peyton Watch is over – and the Denver Broncos have got their quarterback.

After the concerted efforts of multiple teams including the Tennessee Titans, Miami Dolphins, San Francisco 49ers and others, today future Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning instructed his agent Tom Condon to begin contract negotiations with the Denver Broncos.

This may not be entirely over yet – the contract details are still to be worked out. However, if Peyton Manning has chosen Denver then it’s going to happen that Manning is headed for the Mile High City.

This story has had so many twists and turns over the offseason. From Manning’s departure from Indianapolis to his dismissal of bids from Washington and Seattle to the shocking appeal from Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams and his “contract for life” to finally the revelation that Manning had secretly worked out for the 49ers – Peyton Manning kept us all guessing.

The next question in this saga could be just as twisted – what happens to Tim Tebow? The information coming from various league sources indicates that Tebow is to be traded. You gotta hand it to John Elway – he’s not only managed to get Peyton Manning but he’s also managed to get rid of Tebow without any public backlash whatsoever – and achievement that was completely unthinkable a mere two months ago.

Where could Tebow go? The obvious candidates are the Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars but both of those teams have stated that they have no interest in trading for Tebow. Recent reports have suggested interest from the New England Patriots which would certainly be a good fit. Then there are the other quarterback needy teams out there which include the Cleveland Browns and now surprisingly the San Francisco 49ers who are unlikely to retain Alex Smith.

It’s been an exciting month watching this drama unfold – and we haven’t seen a football thrown yet. This is gonna be good.
