When the NFL Draft is less than a week away and you are considered a top prospect, one thing you generally want to avoid is getting into legal trouble. Unfortunately for second-round prospect Alfonzo Dennard of Nebraska, he made a big-time mistake that could be deliver a drastic blow to his draft stock.

Per the Omaha World-Herald, Dennard was arrested early Saturday morning for punching a police officer in the face.

According to the report, Dennard was involved in a fight with a man outside of a bar when the authorities tried to break up the altercation. When intervening, Dennard allegedly punched one of the officers in the left ear and jaw.

Dennard is expected to stay in jail over the weekend while facing charges that include suspicion of third-degree assault on an officer, resisting arrest, and third-degree assault. This is the same Dennard who was ejected from the 2012 Capital One Bowl after getting into a fight with fellow draft prospect Alshon Jeffery.

It’s safe to say that Dennard has a hot temper that could scare off many teams and lead them to remove him from their draft board.
