Alshon Jeffery Showing Improved Work Ethic For Chicago Bears

Wide receiver Alshon Jeffery entered the 2011 college football season as a potential top ten pick. After multiple people began questioning Jeffery’s commitment to the game and his work ethic, he saw his stock fall into the second-round before being selected by the Chicago Bears in the 2012 draft. Now, Jeffery is setting out to erase any doubts people may have.

Every year, there is an event that honors the NFL’s top rookies as they make the jump to the pros. The 2012 NFL Rookie Premiere will be held in Los Angeles, but Jeffery will not attend.

Jeffery has decided to skip the event, so that he will not miss any of the Bears offseason workouts.

The former South Carolina star has also spent time picking the brains of his veteran teammates in an effort to learn as much of the Bears offense as possible before the team’s minicamp starts on Friday. One of those players was backup quarterback Josh McCown, who came away impressed with Jeffery.

“I was very impressed with him mentally,” McCown said. “Great hands, too.”

If Jeffery can put his first-round talent together with a new and improved work ethic, the Bears will come away from the 2012 draft with an incredible steal in round two.
