Ben Roethlisberger Expects Mike Wallace At Steelers Training Camp
By Josh Sanchez
The Pittsburgh Steelers are currently wondering what the fate of wide receiver Mike Wallace will be. He has yet to sign his tender and could be destined for a lengthy holdout. However, the man that runs the offense in Pittsburgh, Ben Roethlisberger, believes that the team’s star receiver will be present for training camp.
“I do anticipate him being here for training camp and looking forward to it,” Roethlisberger said on Wednesday.
“I don’t know anything. I’m not behind the scenes,” he added. “I do talk to Mike. I know Mike wants to be here bad.
“I know Mike will be here. It’s just a matter of when. We keep in contact in Mike. We love Mike. We want him here and we need him here. And we’ll get him here. But the guys that are here are doing a great job.”
Wallace missed his second day of Steelers minicamp, as expected, but cannot be fined since he has yet to sign his free agent tender. If Roethlisberger is right and Wallace shows up for training camp, that is great news for the Steelers and their fans. If not, Wallace could be prepared for a lengthy holdout.
