Laurent Robinson To Justin Blackmon: You Have To Grow Up
By Josh Sanchez
The Jacksonville Jaguars bolstered their wide receiving corp this offseason with a pair of additions. First, the team added Laurent Robinson, who was coming off of a hot end to the season with the Dallas Cowboys, in free agency. The Jaguars weren’t done just yet, as they traded up in the 2012 NFL Draft to select Oklahoma State product Justin Blackmon.
Being a veteran, Robinson took the time to deliver a message to his troubled peer Blackmon, who recently was arrested for driving with a BAC level or triple the legal limit.
“Just tell him you gotta grow up,” Robinson said. “You know, NFL players are targets, you gotta stay low key, low profile and you know just, everybody makes mistakes and you know he’s gotta learn from it and just keep doing better.”
Robinson went on to say that he believes Blackmon will use the arrest as motivation to go out and perform this upcoming season. Blackmon wants to perform at a top level and not allow the DUI arrest to define his rookie season.
“Playing with a little chip on his shoulder,” Robinson said. “Little mad about the whole situation. He’s going to be a pro. We’re going to help him out along the way and he’ll be fine.”
